ABSTRACT

A highly efficient, mild simple and single pot protocol is described for the synthesis of curcumin and analogues in PEG-400 using Thiamine hydrochloride (Vitamin B1) and Calcium oxide as reagent. Two moles of aromatic substituted aldehydes with acetylacetone presented as starting component. This environmentally benign methodology may prove to be a valuable alternatives to traditional curcumin synthesis methods.
